Stephen Edward King was born on September 21, 1947 in Portland, Maine. His books have sold well over 350 million copies worldwide. Many of his books have been turned into movies, comic books and television series. He is widely known as ‘The Master of Horror.’ He has been the recipient of many awards including the Bram Stoker Award. He is active in politics and philanthropy. He donates $4 million dollars per year to libraries.

- His surname was actually Pollock but later changed by his father to King.
